I read something quite a while back about volcanoes putting out more greenhouse gasses than humans could. Looks like that might be wrong. I’m doing more research. But my question is: If countries like China aren’t doing anything to help, and with the small strides that some European countries (and a little bit from the US), what is the solution that can fix it before it becomes too late/severely affects global economies? Nuclear power? Not likely. Getting off Earth? Even less likely. Convincing the planet to join together to fix it? Pffft. I don’t have an answer. I’m just curious.

NASA answered my first question. Hope we don’t poop out a nasty clathrate.

China is on the forefront of R&D and manufacturing in cleantech. They are single-handedly responsible for the huge drop in cost of solar panels and efficient batteries, among other components. They also have agreed to a legally binding commitment to reduce carbon emissions by 2016. Are they a bit late in the game? Sure, that can be argued. But let’s not forget that China is still a developing country. And to say that the US bears no responsibility for global carbon reform because of the developing world, is at best, a cop-out. The US has to at the very least keep up with the EU, if not try to get ahead.

As for your argument about volcanoes, all I can say is keep reading. 😀

Interesting. I knew Japan was up there, but I won’t pretend to be an expert on climate change. I learn something new every day.

Can’t believe the GW theorists are still trying so hard to convince people after 15 years of virtually stable temperatures. I guess it was not embarrassing enough that GW researchers got caught in the ice they said should not have been there. Or, that their climate prediction models continue to FAIL to predict future climate accurately. Not to mention that many of their claims of consensus have been thoroughly debunked and the movement has been show to be more akin to a religious movement. The likes of which any dissent is crushed with harsh rhetoric. This is a political socialist movement meant to destroy democracy. Particularly targeted, are western countries who’s economies rely on producing and trading goods. In any war, the quickest way to bring down a bigger power is to stifle their economic output. That is the goal of the originators of this movement. The only reason why it has caught hold so strongly is because most people are just simply ignorant and easy targets for the liberal green movement rhetoric and faulty science that backs it.
