both theist and atheist have a god.. for the atheist it is the eternal
universe. For the theist it is an eternal God. Both have gods. So
atheist is not atheist.

This apparent design argument is getting old. There are factors in
Evolution that are not random. DNA didn’t just by accident made complex
combinations there are forces selecting stuff and billions of Years.
I applause thought Theist ho still make arguments on creation in biology
after Evolution. Very courageous ….Never give up, never surrender.

Kostas Spiliotopoulos

The fine tuning argument can be explained by the anthropic principle. The
fine tuning argument destroyed God as it applies that God needs to tune
something. Mechanics tune not beings ho make stuff from nothing.
So from a naturalistic selective perspective we would had expected tuning…
From a God perspective tuning is absurd.

Our universe may be eternal, but it might be born from a preceding universe. In fact, with infinite universes, ours, however finely tuned from our perspective, must come into existence not only once, but an infinite amount of times. How do we know if this is true? We don’t, yet science has mathematical models that allow for such things. Our universe is material. Ideas or mind immaterial is not, so out of what was matter formed? Did God magically poof it into existence? Well, if so then theist rely on magic to explain things, which actually does not explain anything.… Read more »

Morality come from human language and culture. The satan/god characters has
nothing to do with humanity, it is the opposite, they need human to make
believe.

Hey ghost believers, how did life came out of a dead Jesus? Life came out
of the universe, the stars. God came out of the human brain, game over,
what’s for dinner?

Tintunabulation

“God’s nature is good.” What do mean by good? Good according to who? We judge what is good or bad. We reflect upon how actions impact us or others. Only those that affect and can be affected are part of the moral community. Our shared biology or physiology and similar basic psychological make-up groups us as a moral class. As a member of humanity, whatever impacts me could be generalized for all humans. Discussing our experiences we can see where we agree as to what we experience as good or not. We can reflect that some experiences that seem bad… Read more »

good and evil are human opinions their is no good and evil in nature

Donald Nadeau

The universe exist and it is in your face, the gods don’t, the gods have
been created by alpha men and in his image, hence anthropomorphic. We know
all about the human gods, where they come from…but not so much about the
universe. And you cannot use the existence universe to prove an
non-existence being.

The battle of religion is war that is more than 2000 years old and it has stifled innovation, caused tremendous suffering and killed countless people. It is a war that has no end in sight. If the first book printed had been a science book instead of the bible, we would have explored the galaxy. If the first book was medical book, we would be disease free. If the first book was an agriculture book, we would have no hunger. But thanks to God’s interference with humanity, we have not explored the galaxy. We have not cured disease. We have… Read more »

“A personal law, has to come from a person”. That is to say that the ‘law’ is subjective. If an alien creature loves to be burned by fire, but hated being cuddled, it would be wrong to cuddle and good to burn ‘him’. Morality is personal to the extent that we should treat others as they wish to be treated unless doing so harms (i.e. treat unfairly, unjustly, or physically hurt) us or others. Fortunately as human beings we mostly agree on what we find agreeable or disagreeable. Where we differ we have to make space for one another unless,… Read more »

no the universe was caused by the big bang but their are most likely many
big bangs in the multiverse not universe

Kostas Spiliotopoulos

I disagree thought with the Atheist speaker about ancient Greece being
theistic. Ancient Greece was the most secular civilization of the ancient
world. Ancient Greece was an anthropocentric civilization, on all ancient
Greek myths humans defied Gods.
Thats way all good stuff in humanity comes from ancient Greece simply
because ancient Greeks where skeptics, free thinkers and secular.

Isnt her first argument about contradictions refuted by Quantum physics?
Particles in two states or places at once… Talk about contradiction.

1. Anthony Uvenio isn’t a pastor
2. Anthony Uvenio has never looked at the evidence for evolution in
a museum, so he has no right to reject the evidence that proves evolution.

tyler crabb

Amy, you are so confusing. Amy from what I understand from listening to you
makes me thankful to be a theist. I have never heard such idiotic answers
to questions in my life.

Kevin Baggett

A lot of her arguments are factually false. The universe did have a
beginning and it is expanding. However, this isn’t evidence for
supernatural shenanigans. The universe could have come from nothing, and
it’s detailed how in Lawrence Krauss’s book A Universe from Nothing.

MsPROOFthatGODexists

PRAISE GOD!! Anthony Uvenio, you’re AWESOME!!!

F.I.S.H Paragraph 1. This universe in which we are temporarily residing and everything within it was made by the God of all gods. This God has five main qualities: Beauty, Power, Wealth, Renunciation and Knowledge. As children of God, we also possess these same qualities, but in finite quantity. Whereas we all have a relatively small amount of wealth (even if it is just the shirt on our back), God has infinite wealth – He/She owns EVERYTHING. Just as we all have some beauty, God has infinite beauty. This is unimaginable to the feeble minds of we human beings. Because… Read more »

Anthony UTTERLY DESTROYED this atheist punk LOLOL.

Qopel

Atheism is not a world view. It’s about a single topic…God.

Tintunabulation

Atheist do not blame nature for ‘doing’ anything. We do not call nature
evil when something bad happens to us through nature’s actions. Nature is
impersonal. We call the experience and its consequences bad only because it
negatively influences us. Those that believe nature to be born from God in
fact do personalize nature by making nature subservient to its creator, who
possess the power to control it. They must explain why a supposedly good
God will use nature to harm his creatures.

Rayvvvone

they truncated the debate.. so unfucking cool.

I guess when the pastor doesn’t answer questions very well and is losing…
OH LOOK another group has to use the hall….

MsPROOFthatGODexists

It’s very curious to me that the woman in the debate seems ‘certain’ GOD
doesn’t exist, yet she doesn’t know if LOGIC is immaterial, nor if morality
is objective, nor does she know where moral values come
from…..hilarious. At 1:11 Anthony should have asked her where, according
to her worldview, does she get the eternal objective moral values that she
acknowledges exist, when she ONLY believes in ‘nature’, which is MATERIAL.
Objective moral values are immaterial, so they wouldn’t exist in her
worldview, but they do. This proves that her athiest worldview is
nonsense.

Rayvvvone

Pastor Anthony presented nothing new, nothing original, nothing
interesting… except for his wonderful acronym. Sigh.

I think that Pastor George Costanza did a pretty good job explaining why he
believes in Christian claims. Karofsky totally destroyed all of his
arguments, however.

untiedshoes90

I actually attended this debate. As soon as I saw that BASIC was hosting this–And what BASIC stands for (Brothers and Sisters in Christ) I had a sinking feeling this was going to be biased. I tried to hold out the benefit of the doubt, but within the first 20 minutes I knew where this was going. It was a complete shit show–the people the organizers picked the people they picked for good reason. While I do not want to discredit Dr. Karofsky, she was not a well suited debater. Placing a pastor, who’s job is public speaking and debating,… Read more »

Re:Objective morality. The baby tortured would be a part of society. For
society to support babytorture 100% the baby in question would have to
support the torture.

AeonsOfFrost

33:42 Karofsky was doing well until she said that “everything that exists
must have a cause for its existence.” I do believe Ulevio (& most other
theists) hold that everything that *begins* to exist has a cause. Of
course, all Karofsky has to do is show that some aspect of reality (*not*
the “universe” as we recognize it) didn’t “begin to exist.” And then that
aspect of reality (whether God or not) could also be exempt from causation.

Kevin Baggett

The dude sounds like Peter Griffin, except a bit dumber.

AeonsOfFrost

17:57 This argument is invalid, although I think Pastor Uvenio misspoke:
P1 “If God exists, then objective morals exist”
P2 “Objective morals exist”
C “God exists”
As stated, the argument follows the logical form:
P1 “A → B”
P2 “B”
C “A” (via 1,2)
But this is affirming the consequent. What I assume Pastor meant to say
was, “if objective morals exist, then God exists.” This would rectify the
logical error, and also make his argument identical to William Lane Craig’s
Moral Argument.

gerry gallacher

Mr Uvenio is somewhat out his depth here and that Dr Amy is one sexy women.

What’s all this bull about Christians doing great evils. Where is the
defends of Stalin, Mao and the Khmer. And don’t give me that Atheism didn’t
an ideology that’s just word play. Call it part of secular humanism,
utilitarianism or scientific ethical naturalism it still allows societies
as above to degrade into barbarism.
