But Facebook, we love you, why you gotta be like that? :(

What part of this do you not understand?

Don’t you just love when you wake up to a nice surprise? Well, that’s what happened to me today! And one day before my birthday no less! And the best part is, I don’t even know why I deserve the surprise!

Apparently, something we put on our FB page again raised the ire of their “Community Standards” enforcement department. Which I visualize as some dank room in India staffed by some teenagers who just click away with glee. Utterly amazed at the incredulous powers they have been granted. And with 20 rupees a day and comp’ed samosas to boot!

We’d love to know what exactly we posted that caused the ruckus this time. The only problem is that we don’t know what it is. They didn’t tell me. At least with the whole “Protesting chicks”, and the “Banned cartoon”, we knew what raised all the ruckus. Of course, we didn’t agree with any of it whatsoever, but we knew.

This time, it’s different. I DON’T know. And worse, I’m completely blocked from doing anything with my Facebook account for a whole day. I went to the Community Forum and tried to post a question there to ask if there was a way I can see what content I posted was deleted and why. And I COULDN’T EVEN DO THAT!

Bad boys, bad boys... whatcha gonna do??

Bad boys, bad boys… whatcha gonna do??

Now don’t get me wrong, we’re definitely rabble-rousers. We like to bark up trees, challenge ideas and mock ridiculous beliefs. It’s what we do. But at no point do we think we’ve crossed any kind of line. Especially when I compare what I’ve been chastised about with stuff that comes across my feed EVERY DAY.

And to see that Facebook will so arbitrarily and blindly silence us, then not tell us why, is really troubling.

So some things are gonna change around here. We’re going to need to rethink how we post and share content. Which, let me add, seems to freely flow around FB and other points on the net without much problem or issue. We’re also going to look at tactics to handle trolls. Which until now, were always welcome and a big part of our amusement. That’s for sure.

We’re also going to look into ways as to how to elevate this issue of arbitrary censorship to the public eye more. I’ll be drafting up a press release about this situation in the next few days. We’ll be reaching out to our fellow heathen sites and pages and asking them for ideas and support.

But for now, keep fighting the good fight for us. With ridiculousness and sarcasm, please. And make it good.

We’ll be back tomorrow, and I foresee another ranting/venting hangout in our future. Lena is still able to get on and she’ll be posting some lovely little tidbits later today.

Silence, is not an option.

Post Script…

Scrolling through the photos section of the page, I finally found what was deleted. And I don’t FUCKING believe it. The objectionable photo?? OUR PROFILE PIC!!!

You find this photo objectionable FB? Well, do ya punk??

That’s right, my beloved, and popular little profile pic, of Jesus proudly holding his rifle. That’s what has apparently achieved “objectionable” status.

Quite frankly, I’m fucking speechless.

[…] Ok, so if you’ve been keeping up, we’ve been censored by FB three times now. The last time resulting in us being blocked from accessing our FB accounts for a day each. Here’s the whole story on that issue:  […]
