  1. Wrong, Himmler was catholic, though he did get sucked into a weird Aryanist cult. As were Hitler, Goebbels, Heydrich, Müllerv and Hoess. Goering was from a mixed household but it’s been said he considered himself catholic. Eichmann, Hess, Boorman, and Speer were protestant. None were atheist or agnostic.

  2. Ok. One, you just basically agreed with me on Himmler. Two, most who weren’t Protestant converted before the war. As for atheists, you have to look further east to Stalin. You want a catholic fascist, look south to Mussolini.

  3. “Ok. One, you just basically agreed with me on Himmler. ”

Uh… no. 😛 Himmler’s aryanism didn’t stop him from being a catholic or a christian. It was just a kookier extremist sect. He was still a catholic.

“Two, most who weren’t Protestant converted before the war.”

    Uh… not quite. 🙂

All of those guys were brought up in their respective religions. There were no “conversions”. Nor did Hitler require them to convert, obviously. Since several of his henchmen stayed protestant. 😛

“As for atheists, you have to look further east to Stalin.”

Do you know any of the history behind Stalin’s alleged “atheism”? Apparently you don’t. 🙂

To make a long story short, Stalin’s goal was to replace the church’s base of power in Russia with the state. The Bosheviks’ Marxist doctrine dictated that the “state” become the sole “god” of the people, and only it should be “worshiped”. That meant there was no room for the institution of church in that scheme.

It’s really not as simple as saying he was an “atheist”. It was a bit more complicated than that. 🙂

“You want a catholic fascist, look south to Mussolini.”

Mussolini was a catholic only because it was politically expedient to be so. He actually denounced his catholic faith when he was young. He was re-baptized five years into his dictatorship to show unity with the church. Again, it was strictly for political theater. It had nothing to do with his fascist ideology. Fascist ideology has no basis on any kind of religious belief. It’s based on corporatism and ultra-nationalism.

Again, do you know any of the REAL history behind this stuff? 🙂

Is it that hard for you to just admit you got it wrong? 😛

  4. “Okaaaaay???? This conversation went over the deep end.”

No, it didn’t. You just said several things that were wrong, and you were called on it. With facts. That’s not a conversation going off the deep end, it’s just you having trouble with the fact that you were wrong on several counts. 😛

“You do know the Nazis were anti-catholic right?”

Seriously? You’re going to triple down? Wow, is it really that hard for you to accept that you just don’t know what you’re talking about? That you perhaps just believed incorrect information? Is it that hard? 🙂

Do you often embarrass yourself on public pages like this? 😛

I’ll spare you any further humiliation.

Here’s some required reading for you. Go learn something.
