A Texas woman is dead after a shooting at a Valero gas station on Saturday evening and the gunman was overtaken and held down and detained by a good Samaritan until police arrived. According to the Houston Police Department, the shooting happened around 7:00 p.m. at the gas station. Investigators say that four people, two men and two women, inside a white van got into an argument in the parking lot of the Valero. Then, one of the men pulled a gun and shot a woman sitting in the front passenger seat, according to KHOU.
Police said, the victim died at the scene and has been identified as 33-year-old Cyril Chatman Jones, of Houston. Chance Perkins, a war veteran, witnessed the incident, then wrestled the suspect , James Lawrence McCarty, to the ground while he was shot at several times. Perkins held the suspect until until police arrived on the scene to take him into custody, investigators said. The victim leaves behind a teenage daughter.
