He (Same Harris) believes in a poll that shows the vast majority of a said religion believe in violence and believe in those carrying out violence are justified in defence of a religion, he (Sam Harris) has a fucking well point. In 25 islamic States Homosexuality is a Capital Crime. Sam Harris has a fucking point. You don't have to agree with him but he has a fucking point. When 60% or 70% of the members of the GOP believe in madness YOU Sam Seder are the first to tar every conservative with X. At least those shit heads are not calling mass murder to justify a religion. You ivory tower idiots. Facts are not refutable. If 70% of a group in the US believed it was OK to murder someone YOU would call for them to be monitored (and you have done so with Christian fundies). And I will not go on with your confirmation bias in regards to Feminism. An ism that the majority of women reject. YOUR channel abused a 14 year old boy. A 14 year old boy for nothing more than ratings and clicks. You lost me

Sam the problem with progressives is you fail on facts like the conservatives. You push a political agenda without regard for evidence. Not always but shit its so common it's not funny

Islam is a western religion you dumb fuck.

do you ever care about being intelligent instead of sounding intelligent?

  • JamesFrancesco August 20, 2015 at 6:32 pm

"if we're going to be accurate we should know the definition"
    …gives no definition

  • 123gurtej August 20, 2015 at 6:37 pm

Sam Harris is not a Neo-con ffs

  • Alex Leaud August 20, 2015 at 6:40 pm

Sam Harris and Bill Maher are very mainstream pro-Israel pro-establishment liberals. I wouldn't call them neo-cons though.

  • sstack83 August 20, 2015 at 6:48 pm

What the fuck is wrong with you Seder?

  • OldBoy August 20, 2015 at 7:11 pm

Sam Harris disciples incoming in 3… 2… 1…

  • Lyle Belken (Belrox) August 20, 2015 at 7:37 pm

Islam is the motherlode of bad ideas

I watch both shows and I have to say this is disappointing. Why is Sam Seder using a snippet of Kyle's video to argue his side instead of inviting Kyle on to discuss this? I find that problematic. Sam, have Kyle on to discuss this don't use a 10 second clip to base your argument and throw him under the bus. Kyle is very smart, like you are.

Neoconservativism is concerned primarily with foreign policy. I think Sam Harris fits the description.

  • Andy Tadikt August 20, 2015 at 8:21 pm

FFS, Seder… I tend to have a lot of respect for you and enjoy your videos, but you didn't even bother listening to what Kyle said before critiquing his video. STRAIGHT away you flubbed Kyles's 50% rule, the only thing you meant to address. Try again. Watch Kyle's video, actually listen to what he says, and then feel free to critique. You quoted his 50% rule as, "if you agree ~50% with someone you shouldn't attack them," and then said you didn't really understand that. Right, because that's not what he said; at all.

If you ever wondered why Secular Talk is literally crushing Majority Report in subscribers and views, this is one reason. You went to address a point in his video without having a clue about what you were addressing. I know it was long video, but it was good, and well worth the listen.

Progressives are associated with secularists, who are associated with atheists, who are associated with Neo-Cons..

  • Mario Quade August 20, 2015 at 8:33 pm

Neocons do not only focus on foreign policy! It is a package, they also have certain ideas when it comes to social and fiscal policies. And there is where Sam Harris and other New Atheists like him, differe a lot from the likes of Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and George W. Bush. You just don't get to redefine the defintion of a political term to fit your use for it Sam, I'm sorry, that's not how it works and it is what you and most others on the left criticise right-wing media for doing so.
Is Sam Harris a liberal? No, I wouldn't say so. Is he a progressive? Yes. Those two groups are not the same. You could argue that the liberal group is a sub-group of the progressive one and Harris just falls into another group/movement and that is a more authoritarian in its nature (just like the SJWs by the way, I wouldn't call them liberals either, even though they do it themselves) hence having some consensus with the neocons, in his case when it comes to foreign policy.
And Harris never advocated for torture, get your facts straight, he said, he could live with torture when it was done under servere time pressure and in no other case and even in that case he didn't really endorse it, since it was just a thought experiment he executed in one of his books. There is a difference between that and a possible real scenario, but it seems that when it comes to Harris and ther New Atheists, you already have your mind set and will condem them doesn't matter what their positions and their reasoning are. Shame on you for that Sam, shame on you and that is the reason why Kyle did the segment, but like he said the next day already, it seemingly failed, since both sides didn't seem to get it and this is just another proof for that.

At the moment, Kyle's vid has 1819 thumbs up and 160 thumbs down. Maybe, just maybe, you have a blind spot Sam. Your vid 97 thumbs up 91 thumbs down.

New Atheists says: "Look at the Middle East: violence, oppression of women, barbarism. It has to come from somewhere. It must be Islam."
Racist says: "Look at the ghetto: crime, culture of dependency, unemployement. It has to come from somewhere. Clearly something wrong with the blacks."
New Atheist & Racist: "Don't call me that, I have statistics and polling on my side. You're just politically correct libtards. In fact, you are the real racists…"

  • Coos Oorlog August 20, 2015 at 9:02 pm

Bill Maher is not a serious political thinker and doesn't probably consider himself as such. He is a comedian, a show-man, a media-figure. He is good at putting different political persuasions into an entertaining discussion. So it's not really worth evaluating his precise position in a political map.

Can't wait for the dislikes on the other video to balance back out like this one. The sad thing is that Seder and his team will most definitely dismiss this as internet trolling. As if they still haven't gotten the hint.

Sam Seder lives off of our subs and our views, keep your script blockers on (no tracking, no ads, no revenue) and unsub if you do not approve of his anti-secular dishonest hackery :-)

This is one of the issues that made me move from the very far left to center-left.

I disagree with Kyle too cause he's trying to frame it as a 50/50 issue, but at least he brings some balance. Cenk Uygur, Sam Seder, Reza Aslan are just a disgrace on this issue.

  • James Davis August 20, 2015 at 9:38 pm

American exceptionalism reminds me a lot of the master race and white mans' burden ideas. So the Con thing is a con.
