Smooth chess move there, ICE. Nobody saw that coming…

ICE Arrested 21 Savage After New Rap About Kids Being Separated from Families at the Border

Legal representatives for the rapper 21 Savage, who faces missing the Grammy’s on Sunday where he is nominated for Record of the Year for “Rockstar” after he was taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), have linked his arrest to lyrics denouncing the family separations at the Mexican border.

In an extended version of his 2018 track A Lot, 21 raps: “Went through some things, but I couldn’t imagine my kids stuck at the border/Flint still need water, n****s was innocent, couldn’t get lawyers.”

In a new statement, legal reps for 21, real name She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, say there is “no legal reason” for his detention, adding, “Many have speculated as to possible ulterior motives for his arrest and detention, including that he released music five days prior to his arrest by ICE, which included new lyrics condemning the behavior of immigration officials for their detention of children at the border.”
