So I’m finally getting a break in all my newfound productive time (thanks to my FB banishment) to start getting some things together for the blog’s latest incarnation. If you haven’t been here in a while, you’ll notice a few new things here and there. At least I hope so!
First off, I’ve set up a Discord server for the blog and our obnoxiously-vocal community.
If you’re not familiar with Discord yet, it’s a rather cool platform that allows users to interactively communicate, share, and chat with each other anyway they want.
You can use text, video, insert links, posts, whatever you want. You can use it easily via your mobile device or any computer. Originally developed to be a platform for gamers to interact with each other while… um… gaming… Discord has since become popular with non-gamers around the world.
Our goal is to get as much of the conversation moved over to Discord as possible, and away from Facebook (and less so Twitter) as much as possible.
In an upcoming post, I’ll be explaining why we consider this to be a bold, necessary move. And, one that I think will just enable to community to interact and communicate BETTER than we can ever do on FB.
So my suggestion? Get to know Discord a bit. Go to this link, or click on the widget you see somewhere on your screen for it. It’s free, easy to set up and VERY cool.
You’ll immediately be given your access/download choices, and choose the one that’s right for you. If you’re on your phone/tablet more than anything, install the app. If you’re on a laptop or PC more, you can get to it via any web browser, but they have apps for OS’ too.
So get to know Discord, and stay tuned, as Sarah and I will be filling you in on future developments. Despite our huge setback with Facebook, I for one am excited about the next chapter for HITF, and I hope you are too! 🙂
