A South Carolina man says he was cleaning his 12-gauge shotgun when it discharged and accidentally killed his wife. According to Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler, 59-year-old Rita Pennington died at the scene of the shooting around 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. Fowler says Pennington’s husband, Dean, told investigators his shotgun accidentally fired, according to WYFF.
The coroner said an autopsy has been scheduled Cherokee County Sheriff Steve Mueller said that he will take the autopsy results and other evidence to prosecutors to decide if any charges should be filed while authorities continue to investigate the incident. Is cleaning a loaded gun a thing now? Was he the good guy with a gun? It’s hard to keep up with all of these ‘accidental shootings’ lately. H/T: Agnostic God @ComgenKDT.
